Nitrogen use efficiency of microalgae application in wheat compared to mineral fertilizer

چکیده

Background Wastewater from sewage treatment plants contains high levels of nutrients, which can be used for plant nutrition. Classical wastewater use complex microbial consortia autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms biological treatment. Certain microalgae (e.g., species the genera Chlorella, Scenedesmus, Pediastrum) accumulate nutrients very effectively. Aims We investigated potential biomass obtained a prototype as source crops, focusing on nitrogen. Methods provided wheat with different algae equivalent to 60, 120, 180 kg N per hectare or mineral fertilizer (N, P, K) amounts contained in algal biomass. Physiological phenotypic traits were measured during growth, including vegetation indices, photosynthetic performance, nitrogen efficiency (NUE). In addition, adundances Bacteria, Archaea fungi genes ammonium oxidizing Bacteria determined rhizosphere differently fertilized plants. Results Microalgal application at 120 ha–1 showed significantly improved physiological yield nutrient uptake compared unfertilized control. Nevertheless, their yields NUE lower than equal fertilization, while adundance microbes ammonia-oxidizing not affected. Conclusions Microalgae treatments form suitable organic only moderate reductions fertilizer.

Study of genetic diversity in bread wheat germplasm using nitrogen uptake and nitrogen use efficiency characteristics

In order to evaluate the traits related to nitrogen utilization and to identify the superior genotypes, 33 bread wheat landraces along three check cultivars of Chamran and Koohdasht (from Iran) and Gobustan (from the Republic of Azerbaijan) were studied in simple lattice statistical design with two replications under two treatments of non-usage and application of 200 kg/ha ammonium nitrate fert...

Efficiency of nitrogen fertilization in spring wheat

An assessment of the nitrogen fertilization efficiency should not only include quantitativeand qualitative yield changes, but also an analysis of formation some indicators such as: Nharvest index (NHI), N use efficiency (NUE), N utilization efficiency (NUtE), N agronomicefficiency (NAE), N physiological efficiency (NPE) and N apparent recovery fraction (NRF).The objective of the study was the e...

Nitrogen yield and nitrogen use of chickpea compared to pea, barley and oat in Central Europe

European agriculture suffers from a substantial deficit of protein sources forlivestock and the projected changes in agro-climatic conditions in Central Europeinclude a higher risk of drought. To address these challenges, the drought resistantlegume crop chickpea was compared with pea, barley and oat regarding its nitrogen(N) yield, protein yield and N use and utilization efficiency under Centr...

The Position of Mineral Nitrogen Fertilizer in Efficient Use of Nitrogen and Land: A Review

Our attitude towards mineral nitrogen (N) fertilizers is ambivalent. N fertilizers have on one hand increased our supply of food, feed and other bio-based raw materials tremendously and also improved the use efficiency of land and labor, but have on the other hand a negative impact on the quality of the environment and contributed to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves. This awareness has res...
